This section of the website details any appeals for volunteers to help us to achieve our objectives now and in the future.

 

This is your opportunity to join a new Heritage Railway Trust and help shape the future of what could be the one of the last heritage railway projects in the country to start from a mothballed line. .

 

Committee Positions

 

The two positions below are positions that will involve appointment to the committee by way of co-opting by the existing committee members.

Engineer Do you want to use your engineering qualification to help shape the early days of the Bala & Ffestiniog Railway Heritage Trust? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who would like to volunteer their knowledge to help us strengthen the committee and to further develop the Strategic plan and site plans to ensure they are robust and achievable. The ideal individual would have a qualification in engineering and experience in the railway environment as well as be able to set and oversee high standards to ensure the long term integrity of the permanent way and other infrastructure. Please note that additional external expertise can be utilised where the appointed individual does not have all the ideal qualities. We are happy to appoint an experienced individual who is capable of pulling together a team to achieve the tasks of the role.

Surveyors Do you want to use your surveying experience to help shape the early days of the Bala & Ffestiniog Railway Heritage Trust? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who would like to volunteer their knowledge to help us strengthen the committee and to further develop the Strategic plan and site plans to ensure they are robust and achievable. The ideal individual would be registered with the Royal Institure of Chartered Surveyors as well as have experience in the railway environment. This individual will work closely with our Engineer and other members of the team to assess the line and assist with the relevant statutory and legal requirements of acquisition of land for the Trust. Part of this work will include structural surveys for the goods shed at Maentwrog Road and the various under and over bridges. Please note that additional external expertise can be utilised where the appointed individual does not have all the ideal qualities. We are happy to appoint an experienced individual who is capable of pulling together a team to achieve the tasks of the role.

 

Volunteer Positions

 

The positions below do not require becoming a member of the committee of the Trust.

 

Fundraising We are looking for experienced people to assist our Fundraising co-ordinator in raising the funds required to restore the line to a Heritage Railway Operation. The ideal individuals would be someone who has experience in grant applications but this is not essential.	Welsh Translator We have a particular need for a native welsh translator to help us to ensure that our website and other literature is available in English and Welsh and is translated correctly. Ideally we would like a few individuals to help with this to enable website updates of welsh translations in a timely manner.
Research We have a need for dedicated individuals to research and collate a detailed history of the line from its earliest days up to the present time. This would suit an individual who likes to hunt through National Railway Museum archives to name one and read new and interesting topics.	General Volunteers Not forgetting anyone else who wishes to assist the trust in achieving its targets in any way.
